In February 2009, Genesis Hospitality Group was named one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies. The country’s leading business awards program honors excellence in Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues over $10 million. The Best Managed designation recognizes companies that focus on their core vision, outperform their competitors, create stakeholder value and have achieved sustainable growth.
Genesis Hospitality owns and operates six hotels located in Manitoba and Ontario. Their properties are full service hotels with guest rooms, restaurants and banquet facilities located in secondary and tertiary markets. The company’s strategic framework is based on three key pillars of success; Growth, Exceptional Team and Guest Satisfaction.
"We came into the Corporate Mastery program wanting help with our sales and marketing processes. We wanted help gaining repeat business, and now we have a referral system in place for that. We wanted help creating sales in slow periods, and we’re working on a system for that.
The biggest benefit for us has been the fine-tuning of our operations. If we hire a new sales manager or open a new hotel, we now have systems we can provide them. E-Myth gave us the methodology, the framework and foundations to build our own systems. I’ve always believed in building a system, we just needed a push to help us get there.
E-Myth also helped us develop and document our business goals. Putting our future plans down on paper and having a game plan to get there has had a huge impact. By thinking long-term — about what the business will be in 2021 — it gives us a framework to work with. It helps us make strategic decisions: an idea either falls into that 2021 plan, or it doesn’t.
Working with our coach was great. He made us think about the big picture in a way we never had before. Everybody needs a business coach. All great athletes and teams have coaches. A coach is somebody who pushes you along and leads you in the direction that your really want to get to but may not be able to get to on your own."
