When we announced our Marketing Intensive Seminar featuring Duct Tape Marketing founder and bestselling author, John Jantsch, we received some inquires about social networking as it pertains to small business. This is one of the topics Jantsch will be covering at the event on November 13 & 14, but for those of you who are interested in an introduction to the concept, check out Duct Tape Marketing's article Social Networking with Training Wheels. In the article, Jantsch introduces 10 ways you can get started with social networking right now.

  1. .Mark G. says:

Mr. Jantsch offers 10 actions items that newbies to the social networking space can use to get started -- and getting started is the most important step. However, I still think readers may be left wondering why they should invest the time. Sure, he assures us that the current state of social networking is still in it's infancy and just a hint at the more reliable business tool that it will become -- but (my opinion) a case still needs to be made for how businesses can connect the dots between social networking and growing the business.

I belong to several networking organizations and inevitably when the meeting time rolls around I think of more pressing concerns (working in the business again) that are battling for my attention. I go to the events, strike up conversations, I enlighten others and I am enlightened by others. Eventually these connections will benefit me and when they do I will say the same thing I always say, "Gee, what a small world it is".

Make no mistake: it is a small world and with social networking, it's getting smaller. That's good news for the businesses that take advantage of it and those that don't will continue spinning their wheels.
