Let's Talk About Training

2009 | Jan 14 in Training , Client Fulfillment

By Nathan Heinrich,

By looking at our Skribit Widget located on the sidebar of the blog, we see that some of our readers are interested in E-Myth writing about "Training".

You want it, you got it! However, training is a big subject in E-Myth's eyes and we want to focus on aspects you want to hear about most.

With that said we'd like to ask you the following:

  1. .Deborah M. says:

How do I manage my disabilities, both visible and invisible in a workplace?  Right now, I am self-employed, building a business, but I know there will come a time when someone will ask, and being the honest fool that I am, will want to explain.

The dilemma of training is further exacerbated by the fact that the majority of the e-myth materials are design to awaken the entrepreneur.

Don't businesses require technicians and managers?

How do you train your employees to fulfill the other roles organizations require while still encouraging creativity and vision?

  3. .E-Myth Business Coach says:

     Dear John H.,

You're right; the E-Myth materials are primarily designed for the business owner, whose #1 job is being the business owner...the Entrepreneur.  Our programs are designed to transform the way you do business, and that transformation begins with you, the owner.

But of course businesses require technicians and managers.  Someone has to do the work, and someone has to manage the people and the systems.  Occasionally, one individual will fill all three roles in a business (and sometimes will fill several positions at each level in the business).  But ultimately, the Entrepreneur has the vision for the business and communicates that vision to the employees; the Manager develops the systems and allocates the resources to get the work done; and the Technician does the work.

In order to fill those management and technician-level positions while still encouraging creativity and vision at the operating level of the business, you will need to develop a management infrastructure for all your employees.  Specifically, you will first need to develop an organizational strategy, then you will need a system to free your people to move beyond their limitations, you will need a management structure that supports creativity, and you will need a system to train your employees that change is a resource instead of an obstacle.

The E-Myth Mastery Impact! program walks you through the development of every single one of these tools, in the processes called:  Your Organizational Strategy; Developing Your People:  Becoming an E-Myth Mentor; Working Relationships that Work; and Creating a High-Performance Environment, respectively.
