The Technician's Addiction
Published: 07/18/2008
Dear
E-Myth Reader,
As any addict knows, going 'cold-turkey' to break an addiction is a tough, painful process. The same is true for
those addicted to technical work, as they try to free themselves from constant work in the trenches. Our new blog
post is about an insurance agent of our acquaintance who left his business for 6 weeks in order to become a real
Business Owner. Read and post your comments at The Technician's Addiction.
The Technician's Addiction
What's the boldest, most frightening move that a business owner can make? It may well be to stop doing technical
work. A brave insurance agent realized that in order to do necessary strategic work, he had to break his
technician's addiction and spend weeks away from the office, focused completely on strategic issues.
At the end of that time
- Productivity had a new definition
- His target market was clearly visible
- He embraced his financials instead hiding from them
- He saw his employees' potential
- He was an Insurance Business Owner
