Dear
E-Myth Reader,
There's an elephant in the room that people have started to talk about. This elephant isn't pink or doing circus
tricks, rather it is wild and threatening. A recession is looming and market volatility continues to play havoc with
small businesses.
Enterprises with robust systems in place are much more likely to survive tough times than those merely 'winging it'.
For 10 tips on how to weather a recession, see the article 10 Business Survival Strategies.
The Elephant
Oil reached $110 per barrel last week, February housing starts are flat, and February building permits are down 7.8%
from January. CNN/Opinion Research Corp reported this past Monday that 74% of Americans believe that the US
economy is already in recession, up from the 46% who held this belief in October 2007.
What's a Business Owner to Do?
Doing nothing in the face of danger is not a good business strategy, and smart business owners will take action to
ensure their businesses' survival. Here are 5 strategies we recommend:
* Quantify your key business processes in terms of income contribution and equity value.
* Dig down to the truths about your business, and make the necessary adjustments to survive.
* Build your employees' awareness of your business vision.
* Remove barriers that prevent your customers from getting what they need.
* Keep your eyes and ears open, so that you can be ready to innovate.
See more on these and other strategies in the article 10 Business Survival Strategies.
