As an enlightened business owner, you understand the importance of doing market research on your prospective customers. For example, you want to know where they're located, any common characteristics they may have and, ultimately, as much as possible about how they think - their needs, wishes, and motivations. The goal, of course, is to refine your ability to effectively and efficiently target your message to those with whom you most want to do business. Well, you may be surprised to learn that this wisdom equally applies in seeking prospective employees. |
The article, titled "Fasten Your Seat Belts: How do you stand out in a field of larger competitors? It's showtime!," described how the seven year old company with only a handful of employees uses research and creativity to "wow" clients in the proposal and presentation process, and to successfully compete against much larger ad agencies and consultancies. WOW's unique approach is getting great results; in the words of one client, "Dann unquestionably knocked it out of the park compared with the other firms, and they were really high-end firms with spectacular portfolios." Congratulations to Dann and the WOW team from everyone at E-Myth. It is an honor to work with such amazing people and companies, and to see them receive this much deserved recognition. |

How I learned - the hard way - what happens when you forget to apply the E-Myth principles to your online business My wife and I own an ACE hardware store in a small town located high in the remote Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Colorado - a beautiful area with a population of only about 4,000 people in the whole county. Our business philosophy has been to stock a wide variety of products to meet as many of our customer's needs as possible. Like all retailers, we have some products that don't sell very well, or don't sell at all. I hate this kind of dead inventory because it represents dead money -- money that's not working for me. It's money I could use to expand, to pay debt, to put in another product line or to pay for a nice vacation. A few years ago I got the idea of selling this dead inventory on eBay. I thought that, at a minimum it would expand my potential customer base, and maybe some this dead stuff would sell. That idea led to what would turn out to be a very interesting journey. |
